Program Overview
What is the Top Nutrition Coaching GLP-1 Program?
The GLP-1 Program is a medically supervised weight management program that combines medication management with ongoing nutrition counseling from a Registered Dietitian.
Unlike our standard nutrition coaching memberships, GLP-1 members work with both a licensed MD/NP and an RD to support safe, sustainable weight loss.
How does the program work?
The member journey is:
- Complete the GLP-1 intake quiz.
- Be matched with a licensed MD or NP.
- Complete enrollment and payment through Healthie.
- Attend the initial GLP-1 consultation.
- If clinically appropriate, begin treatment.
- Continue monthly medication follow-ups and Registered Dietitian visits based on the selected membership.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility is determined by the licensed prescribing provider during the initial consultation after reviewing the patient's:
- Medical history
- Current medications
- Contraindications
- Weight-loss goals
- Overall clinical picture
Not every patient will qualify for GLP-1 medication.
Membership & Billing
How much does the program cost?
Pricing depends on the membership selected.
Current options include:
- Free GLP-1 Eligibility Consultation
- GLP-1 Rx Only Add-On: First month free, then $79/month
- GLP-1 + RD Bundle: First month free, then $149/month
- RD Add-On Packages (Monthly, Bi-Weekly, Weekly) for members who want additional nutrition support.
What does the monthly membership include?
Depending on the package selected, members receive:
- Initial MD/NP consultation
- Monthly medication management
- Registered Dietitian sessions
- Appointment credits that renew each month
- Ongoing support through Healthie and the Top Nutrition Coaching team
Does the membership renew automatically?
Yes.
Memberships renew monthly until cancelled. New appointment credits become available at the beginning of each billing cycle.
Can members cancel?
Yes.
Members can cancel at any time through Customer Support.
Any appointment credits already issued remain available through the end of the current billing cycle but will not renew after cancellation.
Why would a membership be cancelled after the initial consultation?
If the prescribing provider determines that GLP-1 medication is not clinically appropriate, the GLP-1 membership will automatically be cancelled.
Patients may still continue with nutrition coaching if desired.
Medication
Is medication included?
No.
Medication is always billed separately from the membership fee.
The membership covers provider appointments—not prescription medications.
How much does medication cost?
Medication pricing varies based on:
- Insurance coverage
- Pharmacy
- Medication prescribed
- Manufacturer savings programs
Providers and support staff should never quote medication prices, as pricing frequently changes.
Which medications do we prescribe?
Medication selection is determined solely by the licensed provider based on:
- Medical history
- Contraindications
- Clinical evaluation
- Insurance coverage
- Treatment goals
No medication is guaranteed.
Insurance
Does insurance cover the membership?
The GLP-1 membership itself is generally self-pay.
However:
- Members receive superbills after eligible visits.
- Some patients may receive out-of-network reimbursement.
- Medication coverage is determined separately by the patient's insurance.
Does insurance cover GLP-1 medication?
Possibly.
Coverage depends entirely on the patient's insurance plan.
Some plans require Prior Authorization, while others do not. Coverage cannot be guaranteed.
Can patients switch between self-pay and insurance?
Yes.
As insurance-supported GLP-1 services become available, eligible patients may transition from self-pay to insurance-based services.
Patients may also switch from insurance to self-pay if benefits change or are exhausted.
Prior Authorizations
What if a medication requires Prior Authorization?
Our Operations team submits Prior Authorizations on the patient's behalf after the provider identifies the need.
Approval timelines vary by insurance carrier and approval is never guaranteed.
Registered Dietitian Support
What does the Registered Dietitian help with?
Dietitians help members with:
- Meal planning
- Protein goals
- Hydration
- Lifestyle coaching
- Behavior change
- Hunger and fullness awareness
- Long-term weight maintenance
Patients should schedule their RD appointment after each session.
Can existing nutrition coaching members keep their Registered Dietitian?
Yes.
Patients can add the GLP-1 Rx Only Membership while continuing care with their current RD.
Patient Care
What should patients do if they experience side effects?
Emergency symptoms
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe abdominal pain
- Signs of an allergic reaction
→ Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
Non-emergency concerns
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- Appetite changes
- Injection site reactions
→ Message the prescribing provider through Healthie.
Can patients transfer GLP-1 care from another provider?
Yes.
Patients should bring:
- Recent lab work
- Current medication history
- Current dosage information
The provider will determine the appropriate next steps without requiring the patient to restart treatment.
Common Support Questions
How are patients matched with providers?
Patients are manually matched with an MD or NP based on state licensure and provider availability before enrollment.
How are Registered Dietitians assigned?
Once enrolled, members are assigned a Registered Dietitian by the Support team and can begin scheduling appointments after receiving confirmation.
Which states can prescribe GLP-1 medications?
Top Nutrition Coaching currently prescribes in more than 30 states. Refer to the Operations Team or the current provider licensure list for the most up-to-date availability.
I think this format will work much better in Zendesk because support agents can jump directly to Medication, Insurance, Billing, or Patient Care instead of scrolling through one long list of questions. It also scales well as you add insurance workflows and additional GLP-1 packages.
